Press attention for your World Walks for Water and Sanitation 2012!

After kicking off the World Walks for Water and Sanitation in Marseille things are getting even more exciting! Over 280,000 people have now registered to take part and more people are registering every day! We expect over 300,000 walkers!

Get media attention for your Walk!

For all World Walks for Water and Sanitation organisers it's really important to engage the media with the campaign. The more media attention the walks get, the more we will raise awareness of the water and sanitation crisis and the more pressure we will put on politicians to act. We want to make sure that world leaders know we are looking for decisive action and firm commitments to get taps and toilets to the world's poorest communities.

We've produced a template press release for you to use in both English ( DOC File 43KB) and French ( DOC File 36KB)! Please do adapt this to make it relevant to your country and your walk. Include how many people you are expecting to join your walk and add a quote from you about why you want to see action taken on the water and sanitation crisis! You can download a handy guide on how to distribute your press release here too!

You might want to circulate a press release both before and after your event. Keep checking the website to find out the number of expected walkers and include the updated figure when you send out the press release!

Remember to send us your photos!

Remember, it couldn't be easier to send us your photos to our Flickr page! Photos are already being sent in as we speak! How to do it!
